The Empire was always the city’s most glamorous theatre. Before becoming the Beatles, the Quarry Men auditioned here, and did so again as Johnny and the Moondogs. Later, the Fab Four played the Empire 11 times. Their last Liverpool concert was at the Empire, at the end of 1965, and Paul, George and Ringo all played here since.
