Circle of Scourers

Circle of Scourers.

Nik Ramage.

2009. Steel, motor, scourers. 135 x 126 x 81 cm.

The scourers attached to the wheel rim in ‘Circle of Scourers’ are soft, spongy, colourful and mass produced. The rest of the machine is hard, largely self-coloured, and tailored to the task of squeezing the scourers as they rotate. Once squashed, the scourers immediately restore their shape unaffected and completely resilient.

Woah if I didn't read the blurb I really wouldn't have noticed the intent of this piece, hiding discretely under the stairs.
