Equanimity

Equanimity.

Chris Levine.

Vertical LED matrix, Acrylic, PCB. 2000m x 200mm x 50mm.

'Equanimity" [LED Blipvert] - using an unnerving imaging technique Levine has pioneered, this experimental piece projects imagery into your peripheral vision as if they were 'visual echoes'. In this work, his historic portrait of the Queen, Equanimity, appears in an instant only to disappear when you look directly at the 2m vertical strip of oscillating LED's. On show is the prototype proof as developed for Collectors Contemporary in Singapore.

I think that...

I remember now where I first saw this technology back in 2000 -- at a bar in Oakland, CA advertising Budweiser beer.

This is really hard to see. It's the flashing pole of LEDs near the stairs to the mezzanine floor. Any tips from the artist about how best to see this?
